React fast to movement and climate conditions in any facility.

Monnit’s easy-to-install, three-in-one Enterprise Wireless Motion+ Sensor combines the power of monitoring people or animal movement, ambient temperature, and relative humidity (RH)—all simultaneously with one sensor. This sensor can alert managers early and often when problems begin or even before they do in virtually any facility.

Remotely monitoring three of the most important facility operations conditions can prove valuable in facilities as diverse as office buildings, warehouses, factories, hospitals, clinics, labs, art galleries, and greenhouses. There are many ways to benefit from this multi-sensor: boost security, detect occupancy, protect inventory and equipment, optimize cleaning services, keep people and animals comfortable, and many more.

Sense what's coming and going

Detect motion and occupancy of people or small animals with the sensor's passive infrared (PIR) element. The sensor detects up to 4.5 meters or 15 feet and within an 80-degree viewing angle. The sensor can help you boost facility security, detect room or area occupancy, safeguard inventory, optimize cleaning services, and more with actionable data.

Track ambient room or area temperature between -40°C to +125°C (-40°F to +257°F). Ensure climate conditions remain within your defined parameters to maintain comfort and protect people, equipment, inventory, and other assets.

Monitor 0-100% RH with a built-in scientific-grade humidity element. Data centres, manufacturing facilities, life science labs, food processing plants, art galleries, grow houses, and many more are perfect use cases for the Enterprise Motion, Humidity & Temp Wireless Sensor.

This sensor come standard with two replaceable AA batteries. The typical battery life is approximately 10 years.

INFORMATION - Sensor Operation

Please note: this sensor requires both an applicable Gateway and iMonnit software to operate. For further information, please refer to the tabs above or related products below.

Monnit Gateway Options

An integral component of any IoT network is the gateway. A gateway device allows for data from sensors to be transmitted to the iMonnit software platform.

Monnit Ethernet Wireless Gateway 4

Monnit’s Ethernet Gateways allow your Monnit Wireless Sensors to communicate with the iMonnit™ Online Wireless Sensor Monitoring and Notification System without the need for a PC. Simply provide power and plug the gateway into an open Ethernet network port with an internet connection. It will then automatically connect with our online servers, providing the perfect solution for commercial locations where there is an active internet connection.

Monnit 4G + Ethernet IoT Gateway

The ALTA® by Monnit Wireless IoT Gateway combines a 4G LTE CAT-M1/NB2 cellular engine and Ethernet platform with Monnit’s wireless access point network to aggregate and communicate data from Monnit ALTA Wireless Sensors. The ALTA IoT Gateway allows ALTA Sensors to operate on the world’s leading cellular networks and stay connected to the Internet. The gateway uses AC main power but also has redundant power through a battery backup lasting up to 60 hours.

To meet the global demand for enterprise IoT deployment, the IoT Gateway communicates with the cloud-based iMonnit® monitoring software via cellular transmission, making it ideal for remote locations or where the Internet isn’t available. The RJ-45 Ethernet jack allows local device configuration, diagnostics, and connectivity backup. The IoT Gateway is instrumental in sending sensor notifications via text, email, or call if user-defined conditions are met or exceeded.

Online Sensor Monitoring Software

iMonnit is a cloud based mobile internet platform and central hub for managing Monnit and ALTA products. All data is secured on dedicated servers operating Microsoft SQL Server. This online user interface is where all your device settings can be arranged, supervised, and modified to reflect your unique environment. OneTemp will look after the activation and setup of your new online iMonnit account free of charge. There is also a free mobile app for you to stay in control at all times. Start with the basic version or upgrade to iMonnit Premiere to enjoy the full features your Monnit experience can offer.

iMonnit Basic Vs Premiere:

  • Basic - Free with no ongoing costs
Monnit Basic is included for free with all wireless sensors, providing basic features for you to configure and monitor your sensors online. These basic features only support one network and one registered user on an account.
  • Premiere - Minimal Annual Fee
iMonnit Premiere allows for enhanced functionality of your wireless sensors and includes an advanced software feature set at a low annual cost. All of iMonnit's advanced features are availble for configuration. You can have more sensors on your account, support multiple users, and view floorplans for all your sensors.

PIR Element Specifications

Motion Sensing Technology Quad Array Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensing Element
Motion Range Up To 15 ft. (4.5m)4
Quad Array Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensing Element
Current Consumption 3 uA
Typical Response Time 1 to 3 Seconds1
Operating / Storage Temperature -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F)
Lens
Standard Lens Viewing Angle 80° 3
Configurable Range 15 ft / 12 ft / 9 ft (Software Configurable)2

1The response time may be enlongated by up to three seconds after a radio transmission. The sensor is most responsive when used with less frequent heartbeats. Heartbeats of 10 seconds or greater is recommended.
2The range assumes a 5' 8", 170-lb person moving across the sensor face from left to right wearing pants and a t-shirt. If the target is fully covered with insulating material or moving toward (not across) the sensor face the actual detection range may be reduced.
3The maximum range is greatest when the target is centered on the sensor, as the target moves farther from the center of the sensor in any direction the range reduces gradually (Ex: On standard lens, 5 M range when centered on sensor, 4 M on edge of widest detection angle). Standard lens has a potential viewing angle of 120° but range is reduced to ~2 M beyond 80°.
4Refer to element specific tables and figures in this data sheet for more information on sensor specifications.

Relative Humidity / Temperature Element Specifications

RH Accuracy +/- 2 %
RH Range 0.00 to 100.00 %
RH Resolution 0.01 %
RH Response Time 8 seconds (tau(63%))2,3
RH Repeatability +/- 0.21 %
RH Long-term Drift 0.5 %RH/yr 1
Temperature Accuracy +/- 0.3 °C
Temperature Range -40 to 125 °C
Temperature Resolution 0.01 °C
Temperature Response Time 2 seconds (tau(63%))2,3
Temperature Repeatability +/- 0.15 °C
Temperature Long-term Drift <0.03 c="" yr="" td="">
Operating Range The sensor works stable within recommended Normal
Range-see Figure 4. Long-term exposure to conditions
outside of the Normal Range, especially at humidity >80%RH,
may temporarily offset the RH signal (+3%RH after 60 hours).
After returning into the Normal Range, the sensor will slowly
return towards the calibration state. Prolonged exposure to
extreme conditions may accelerate aging.

1 Maximum value is < 0.5 %RH/yr. Higher drift values might occur due to contaminant environments with vaporized solvents, out-gassing tapes, adhesives, packaging materials, etc. For more details please refer to Handling Instructions. Do not clean with or expose sensor to alcohol-based cleaners or solutions.
2 Response time is best case in ideal conditions and is very dependent upon temperature and humidity exchange between the sensor and environment. In a stagnant air environment, it may take longer for the air in the sensor to exchange with the environment and the temperature response will generally be slower than
ideal since the sensors board and batteries act as a temperature well slowing down how quickly the sensing element responds to environmental changes.
3 Refer to element specific tables and figures in this data sheet for more information on sensor specifications.
