OVERVIEW
Detects when contact is made or broken
Monnit’s Wireless Dry Contact Sensor detects when there is contact between the two wired end points. It can easily be integrated into existing switches or contact plates. When the sensor detects contact between the two end points, it will immediately turn on the RF radio and transmit the data to the wireless gateway and iMonnit Online Sensor Monitoring and Notification System, allowing the user to immediately receive an SMS text or email alert. The sensor can be configured to detect both closed and open loops alerting if contact is made or broken and alert on state changes.
Working in industrial environments with potentially explosive atmospheres can be highly hazardous. IECEx is the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres. The IECEx System facilitates international trade in equipment and services used in hazardous areas to address the risk of fires or explosions from flammable gases or dust.
Safety First, Always
There’s a risk to workers in many industries prone to producing explosive atmospheres. When flammable gases, mist, vapors, or dust mix with air, explosive atmospheres occur, and the slightest spark can set them off. The dangers aren’t only prevalent in the petrochemical industry but also in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food processing, power generation, construction, architectural woodworking, and more.
Monnit provides a growing IECEx-certified Internet of Things (IoT) product line with award-winning1 ALTA-ISX Wireless Sensors to work safely in hazardous industrial environments within potentially explosive atmospheres.
Monnit’s ISX Long-Range Wireless Sensors are IECEx-certified2 under code: Ex ib IIA T3 Gb. Essentially, the IECEx-certified sensors are used in IEC Zone 1 areas where explosive industrial atmospheres of IEC group IIA gases (propane or similar) may be present.
These ALTA-ISX Sensors are not only certified as intrinsically safe in explosive atmospheres of group IIA and hazardous Zone 1 environments, but they’re also:- Incapable of causing a spark or reaching a temperature (class T3) that could ignite an explosive atmosphere comprising a range of group IIA gases or dust
- Able to be used in many industrial applications worldwide where combustible gases (group IIA) may be present in Zone 1 areas
1 Monnit won the 2022 Industrial IoT Product of the Year Award and the 2022 IoT Innovator Award for its ALTA-ISX Sensors.
