OVERVIEW
Let plants grow in a good light
Crops require a specific amount of light during a particular timeframe. The ideal light for plants comes from the wavelength known as the photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) spectrum. Monnit’s Industrial PAR Light Wireless Meter monitors this spectral range (389 to 692 nanometers) from indoor and outdoor light sources, including LEDs.
Monnit’s PAR Light Meter is a full-spectrum quantum device that measures PAR in photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD). One of the two important light readings you receive from the PAR Light Meter is PPFD, indicated by micromoles per square meter per second (µmol/m2/s). The PPFD reading shows both light intensity and the amount of light that is on a square meter of crops each second.
See the lights plants need to stay healthy
Another critical reading from the PAR Light Meter that helps assess plant health is Daily Light Integral (DLI). The DLI measurement indicates the PAR level or PPFD accumulation that falls on a square meter of crops during 24 hours. It’s calculated in moles of light per square meter per day (mol/m2/d).
The PAR Light Meter comes equipped with a threaded M8 6-pin connector built into the lead for quick and easy disconnect or replacement as needed. It also features;
- Light sensor rated to IP-68 and built with a self-cleaning, anodized aluminium body with acrylic diffuser
- Blue-enhanced silicon photodiode with a spectral range of 389-692 nm +/- 5 nm
- 5 m of shielded, twisted-pair wire with TPR jacket (high water resistance, high UV stability, and flexible in cold conditions)
- Sensor sold with mounting bracket and leveling plate
This sensor comes with an industrial battery included with the life of up to 7 years.
All industrial sensors are enclosed in a reliable, weatherproof NEMA-rated enclosure that are constructed for both indoor and outdoor use. These rugged enclosures protect the sensor circuitry against;
- Falling dirt
- Wind-blown dust
- Rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, and hose-directed water
- Ice formation on the enclosure
- Increased resistance to corrosion
Features
- Impressive wireless range of up to 1,200 feet through walls
- Frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS)
- Improved interference immunity
- Improved power management for longer battery life
- Encrypt-RF® Security (Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange + AES-128 CBC for sensor data messages)
- Over-the-air updates
- Free iMonnit basic online wireless sensor monitoring and notification system to configure sensors, view data and set alerts via SMS text and email

1 Response time is less than 1 ms on the SQ-500-SS itself, but the response time is also limited by the configurable measurement interval on the sensor, which is as low as one second and is one minute by default.2 Accuracy is a combination of raw element accuracy, non-linearity, and voltage measurement accuracy by the Monnit sensor base. The sensor must be level to achieve this accuracy level.
3 The temperature response is adjusted out when the temperature compensation configuration is turned on in iMonnit.
4 The cable is only waterproof when connector ends are fully seated, and connector nut is completely hand tightened to engage o-ring seal in the connector.
