OVERVIEW
Seamless Integration with CAN networks
The PyroCAN measures the temperature of a surface and transmits it via CAN Bus using the Raw CAN protocol. The sensor can be connected to a network with more PyroCAN sensors and other types of CAN device. A configurable CAN ID allows it to be connected easily to an existing network. The adjustable emissivity allows a variety of materials to be measured with high accuracy and repeatability.
The PyroCAN series is a range of general purpose infrared temperature sensors (pyrometers) that measure the temperature of surfaces without contact. The temperature is transmitted digitally every 200 ms via a CAN interface. The sensor’s CAN ID and emissivity setting may be changed via a CAN command.
The sensor is suitable for measuring a variety of non-metal surfaces, including painted materials, rubber, plastics, asphalt, soil, plants, organic materials, food and pharmaceuticals. Metals can be measured if they are painted or heavily oxidised.

APPLICATIONS
Automotive Testing
Multiple sensors can be mounted in various locations around a vehicle during testing, to monitor the surface temperatures of engine blocks, suspension parts, belts and exhausts.
Industrial and agricultural vehicles
The PyroCAN allows temperature monitoring on vehicles throughout industry and agriculture. The process temperature can be accurately monitored without contact, and parts of the vehicle can be monitored with the same sensor.
